Diurnal variations in heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP) occur largely due to spontaneous variations in sympathetic (SNS) neural traffic. We investigated whether hourly BPs and HR changes were predictive of the variations in SNS activity assessed by the overnight urinary norepinephrine excretion (U-NE) in young, healthy men. We measured BPs and HR every hour from 20:00 to 09:00 h, and the U-NE every hour from 22:00 to 06:00 h. Cervical spine ultrasonography is a useful method for imaging the cervical spine in children. It can be performed without radiation or iodinated contrast media and enables direct visualization of the spinal cord, the nerves and the ligaments. This examination should be performed in patients with suspected pathology of the spine, especially with back and neck pain. In many cases, cervical ultrasonography will not identify a pathology but it will identify a cervical disorder, such as cervical hypermobility or nerve entrapment syndromes. Ultrasonography is usually performed with a transducer frequency of 8-15 MHz, although higher frequencies can be used if necessary. Cervical ultrasonography can also be used as a complementary examination in a patient with suspected cervical pathology, but the first priority should be to perform a plain radiography.Q:
